Moroccan Rugs

Moroccan weavings can, very broadly, be divided into two traditions: the sophisticated Arabic urban tradition, greatly influenced by the styles of the Ottoman Empire; and the rural carpets of Morocco that represent the regional Berber cultural traditions.

Spontaneity, boldness, individuality and inspired irregularities are the delightful hallmark of Moroccan kilims and carpet. While once used as a covering against the cold, they are now also considered as an integral part of Moroccan art.
