An abrashed red ground Kurdish rug, possibly from northwest Persia. The field is covered with vertical sprigs of flowers in alternating rows of left and right. An unusual and rare composition that may also be attributed to the Gendje region of the southern Caucasus. A beautiful mixed light and dark blue border filled with bars and eight pointed stars form the outer guard. The inner main white ground border has an unusual barber pole variant design including flattened lozenges flanked with running dog stripes on either end.
