Persian Boteh Runner

A semi-vintage Persian Shiraz carpet with the geometric boteh motif as its theme. The boteh, recognizable as the basic element of the paisley pattern, means 'leaf' in Persian. It also believed to represent the almond. In this unusual piece, the shaded dark indigo field has diagonal rows of hooked botehs shaped into a central column of overlapping diamonds. Among the four layers of borders where the botehs are repeated on mellower grounds of white, mustard and red, the one closest to the field is particularly interesting, replete with animal and arrow motifs. A stunning accent to a stylish home, anywhere in the world.
